Join us and help Worcester’s green spaces to flourish! Sign up to our email newsletter to find out what is coming up each month.

There are so many ways to get involved as a volunteer. If you like to get outside and stuck in, you can join our biodiversity group every Wednesday at sites around the city. Learn new skills and make new friends, while reaping the benefits of spending time outdoors.

There’s no need to sign up to any sessions, you’re welcome to join for as much or as little of the time as you are able, and we provide all tools and equipment. Just wear suitable clothing and shoes, and bring a packed lunch. If these are a barrier to your attendance, we do have some clothing and boots available, and always provide biscuits, so just let us know what you need.

Corporate Groups

We offer corporate groups the opportunity to join our biodiversity volunteering sessions, giving your team time outside, a chance to chat and of course to work hard learning new skills, giving back to your community, and helping to improve our green spaces.

NEW FOR 2026

Citizen Science

This is a new project for 2026. We are hoping to collaborate with local groups to set up opportunities for you to monitor biodiversity in your local areas. This will give you the chance to help improve our understanding of what plants and animals are present, inform our work, and connect more deeply with nature.

If you are interested in getting involved with this project, please email info@theweg.org.uk

Events

Come along to one of our events to learn more about nature and spend time outdoors! Check out What’s On (link) to see what is coming up.

We run events for adults and families; guided walks to explore new areas, bug hunts for kids, and opportunities to learn about nature from experts. All in the city of Worcester.

We also attend plenty of local events to run fun educational activities, so come and say hello if you spot us!

Habitat Boxes

Providing artificial habitats for birds, insects, bats and hedgehogs can be important in urban environments where natural spaces might be limited.
We produced over 100 swift boxes for Worcester-based projects in 2025, and our sand martin boxes (produced jointly with the local RSPB and Canal and River Trust) saw over 400 fledglings!

We can make many types of habitat boxes, for mammals, birds and insects. If you would like more information, please contact wildlifeproducts@theweg.org.uk

Boost Biodiversity

There is so much you can do to help local nature, even if you don’t have a garden. Check out our 52 things you can do for nature. Remember, nature isn’t neat!

Maybe you want to start up your own local group! Our founder, Paul Snookes, has shared his thoughts on the lessons he learned with the WEG and how you can help your community to thrive in a flourishing natural environment.
